Aerospace/Aeronautics

I'm only a sophomore in high school, but i am very interested in the engineering field. specifically aerospace and aeronautics. My school offers a program though a local tech institute that would, after half days through the next 2 years and one after i graduate i could obtain a license as a aeronautics technician. I'm pretty sure i want to go this way. also its a national license so i could in essence work anywhere in the country. however i also wanted to attend a high class college in these fields. I was wondering if anyone has input towards this situation. Is this a good way to go about this? I also have pretty consistent 95-96 GPA. And have taken a few engineering classes in my school, such a Drawing and design for production, Principles of engineering, and an aerospace engineering course. Any suggestions would be appreciated and possibly if this move(going to the aeronautics course) would benefit much when i apply to college.

no. no. no. it will not help you be an engineer. you would be better off spending your time taking rigorous math and science classes.

doing a program to be a aeronautics technician when you want to be an engineer is like training to be a nurse when you want to be a doctor.
