So I heard that, if one wants to go into Aerospace Engineering, major in Mechanical Engineering as an undergrad, take Aerospace electives, and then get a MS in Aerospace Engineering.

What about the other way? Is it harder to switch from Aerospace Engineering to Mechanical Engineering than vice versa? Can you do Aerospace as undergrad and then Mechanical as grad if you want to?

Also, is it generally harder to be admitted into Aerospace Engineering program or Mechanical Engineering program?

It is easy to go either way and many people are admitted to one program for graduate school who did their undergrad in the other.

Why do you bump this? No one else answered because I gave you the correct answer.

I’m still curious about the last question, which was unanswered.

Well that is an answer that will depend on the school.

^Which is why I said “generally,” if there is an answer for that. I assume by your last answer that it varies widely among schools?

There isn’t. It depends in the school. How large is the department, how many people are applying, how competitive the department at that school.
