Good evening everyone!
I have been searching around for Aerospace engineering programs and I cannot find a good reasonable solution. Personally, I want to go to MIT but realistically, not self disqualifying just statistically, I would probably go to Embry Riddle. My grades are so-so but I do have a lot of extracurriculars and personal work to prove that this is what I want to do with my future. Anyone else in the same boat trying to minimize expenses while securing a future in the aerospace field?
Thank you for your time,

Embry Riddle is a great school. We just made an offer for a student there to intern in our department next semester. His work there was impressive. We have hired a lot of students from there and I don’t know one MIT engineer in our big directorate. (I’m sure there are a couple) You would be fine at Embry Riddle!
Good evening momocarly,
That’s great that Embry Riddle does have expansive opportunities. Personally, does it look odd if a student transfers a majority of general education credits from a community college to only attend Embry Riddle for 2 years? These measures would be taken to minimize expenses.
There are plenty of aerospace schools at a variety of prices - Embry Riddle, Florida Tech, Suny Buffalo, U of Colorado, U of Alabama Huntsville.
If you are transferring from a community college, make sure all your credits will transfer. MIT may not take them all.
@SpaceYozard it is really no problem if you go to Community College first. We as one organization look at the overall person. Our area also looks for communication skills and maturity which can be shown working at summer camps, being an officer in an organization, working at a customer service job at a store. You can get a lot of those type experiences while doing Community College. My current intern goes to a small local college works 30 hours a week and goes to school full time in the evenings while raising a family. He will get a job offer. Be well rounded, get good grades and make sure you do a thorough job search. Internships help a lot!
If money is a concern I’d look at what your home state has to offer first. My son is also planning on Aerospace and is currently trying to decide between University of Minnesota and Iowa State. MN is our home state, but Iowa is giving some good merit scholarships, and he really loved the campus and Aerospace instructors there. He’s also been accepted to Huntsville but I think he’s ruling it out due to distance.
Interesting. I will consider those options and determine what would work the best. Thank you all for informing me about this subject!
