<p>My parents were born in Morrocco (North Africa), and even though my skin color would be considered white (middle eastern colored) technically I'm African American right? Am I allowed to put on my application that I'm African American?</p>

<p>According to the Census, you would not qualify as African American. Here's their definition: "Black or African American. A person having origins in any of the Black racial groups of Africa. It includes people who indicate their race as "Black, African Am., or Negro," or provide written entries such as African American, Afro American, Kenyan, Nigerian, or Haitian."</p>
<p>"White. A person having origins in any of the original peoples of Europe, the Middle East, or North Africa. It includes people who indicate their race as "White" or report entries such as Irish, German, Italian, Lebanese, Near Easterner, Arab, or Polish."</p>
