What are the grad school/professional opportunities coming from Middlebury? I'm trying to decide between Middlebury and the University of Chicago, and at the moment, I feel like U. Chicago has better prospects coming out. Any insights would be appreciated.

If you're interested in admission to top professional schools (law, medicine, business), I'd go with Middlebury. If you're interested in getting a PhD, go with Chicago.

I would decide between UChicago and Middlebury completely based on feel and wouldn't be concerned about perceived supposed 'differences' in opportunities, which have much more to do with you than the school (or at least after Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, MIT they do).

I would personally like what seems to me the more well-rounded (social and academic) education at Middlebury without the need to be in a big city, but those are the kind of considerations you need to take into account. Plus, the schools aren't exactly close to each other; so unless you live near Pittsburgh, one probably is going to be way more of a hassle to get to than the other.

I'll agree with gellino, insofar that I think that Chicago and Middlebury cater to different kinds of people, and help to draw their qualities out. What are you looking to achieve in college?
