After reading this forum for a LONG time

I realize how long everyone's college process has taken. I must be very "different" because I was accepted to my university on June 27th, 2007 and move into my dorm on August 13th, 2008.... there are a TON of kids here in my town that have yet to apply to colleges....I find that extremely odd. I was self motivated and knew where I would be going...took the ACT October 13th, 2006 and again in April of 2007. Sent in my application on June 21st, 2007.

I cannot believe how many of my classmates are still undecided and careless... my parents never really pressured me....after visiting the campus (in 10th grade!) I knew that I would be going there and would put in my transcripts and application in my Junior year...

Took a TON of stress off of my senior year... I do not see how kids wait so long to start taking the ACT/SAT in order to begin the college process.

I get to register for Orientation April 21st....so I ill be at my laptop at 11pm-probably 1am tonight....I want to get the first orientation spot.

I know at least in my area, school has a lot of influence.

9th grade, it's all, "Don't worry about college, you have plenty of time!"
10th grade, "You might want to start thinking about it, but don't worry, you still have two whole years!"
11th grade, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING, WHY HAVEN'T YOU TAKEN THE SAT YET????"
12th grade, "WHERE ARE YOU GOING? YOU MUST KNOW BY OCTOBER?!?!?!"

One of my neighbor's kids went to visit a small Catholic school during spring break of his junior year. They looked at his transcript, had him fill out an application and accepted him on the spot.

Like you, he didn't have to sweat college apps at all.

At least two of the safeties schools on My DD's lists do those online priority apps in August. It will very nice to have those decisions in hand prior to the madness!

How do you know which schools have online priority applications?

warriorboy I only know from reading these boards this fall and from one of my DDs friends who is a Sr. this year who received them. This is a thread on the subject from way back.
