You are a sophisticated parent, clearly, so don’t be too thrown by threads here on CC.
I too wonder what her goals are for the Russian. It would seem she is like an advanced violinist, although it is language: she can do it outside of school (find a teacher in the community or online?), on her own, use it in internships, travel etc. or she can find a program where she can go in more depth within academia. I would think that would mainly involve literature-?
I would encourage a kid like this to think as flexibly as possible about her future and not narrow things down prematurely. Planning done too early actually limits opportunities. She can choose schools based on finances and the usual factors of size, location, academics, extracurriculars and most of all “vibe”. If Russian is not offered at the level she needs at a school she likes otherwise, I would still encourage her to consider it and deal with Russian another way. Clearly she is already fluent.
Career focus really is not necessary at the undergrad level. It is a recent phenomenon driven by the cost of college and loans etc. I think. A young woman like this will soar no matter what she chooses as a major.
Harvard and some other schools have financial aid for families who make more than $150k, and a family with many kids like yours might win some special consideration. You could do the CSS Profile and write about your family in the special circumstances section.
Clark and Goucher both promote their global focus, study abroad, and diversity so those might be possibilities.
