Hunter is part of the city public colleges in NYC...i wouldn't say it's bad or whatnot. Its overall stature is strong at sciences and liberal arts, and its one of the reputable ones among CUNY. But its honors program from what I hear is good. Offers all those free stuff and closer advising/care..i guess the program is where a good chunk of the CUNY budget is used. Its only 4 yrs old, but CUNY honors got a rhodes scholar this year..so overall I guess i would say Hunter isn't crappy.

You don't have to study abroad in the summers. With a small part of the money you save, you can live in different parts of the world in the summer....without studying.

Premed is only 4-6 courses - at least that is what I have read, so that shouldn't keep you from studying abroad! Look into this further, and check and see if there are any study abroad options through Hunter, including doing a year exchange at another US college. You need to thoroughly investigate your options before saying yes to Hunger

Hey, I have a big question. I'm bent on going to MIT, but I know I can't afford it, without scholarships and loans (which i will apply for). So, who recommends that I skip MIT for undergrad, try for grad, and go to a less expensive university first? It doesn't seem like a well-known or well-publicized game plan; kids are generally looking to get into the one they want when they want it. THanks for any advice.

I think i'm gonna go for CUNY Hunter Honors college. Sounds like less of a hassle for med school, and I dont think I'll mind using the expense account yearly, which I'll probably use to make up the lack of stuff at Hunter. Ruled out Tufts, and I recently wrote a letter to BU to petition for a better financial aid package. If I get a better package (pay 15k or less), i'll go to BU. If not, Hunter Honors here I go!

I know that i'll be missing a lot by not going away, but I guess sacrifices have to be made for a full nice ride. I'm keeping in mind that If I don't like it, I can always transfer out.

Thanks for all the advice you guys! :] Good luck to you all
