<p>That is a mixed question. First, no, you absolutely do not have to be in the Corps of Cadets to run for Yell Leader. There have been non-reg Yell Leaders before. The qualifier is that the Corps gets together and makes their slate of Yell Leaders from the Corps and then they vote as a “block” and that block almost always wins because of it. It’s kind of amazing to know that so few non-reg students must vote in elections since the block of 2000 Corps votes easily wins over a potential 40,000 plus other non-reg votes. But, there is probably also a sizable amount of the non-reg students who like the tradition that Yell Leaders are from the Corps.</p>
