I don't know how a credit card or debit card works...I'm gonna be so lost

Debit Card=A way of spending your money through an electronic transaction and it comes directly/immediately out of your bank account.

Credit Card=buy now pay when the bill arrives.

ok, i know that much, but not terms like apr, finance charges, grace period, variable vs. fixed interest rate, etc...and what's the benefit of a credit card? it seems like you'll eventually pay more than the total of ur purchases once u consider other charges.

There are quite a few websites to help you learn the credit terms you are mentioning. Also......it stands to reason if you pay purchase price + fees that it will end up costing more. Just because you use a credit card does not mean you are paying fees however.

I got a Debit Card through TCF Bank. Can anyone tell me what the MCARD does then? I heard it's like a debit card too???

you can use your Mcard as your TCF debit card so you don't have to carry around both cards...

If you pay your balance each month for your credit card you're not paying anything extra.

I think the mcard only works for withdrawing money (? not sure) but the card they sent us is a check card, so you can use it like at walmart.

actually the mcard can be a debit card as well.

ok, so what if I'm also doing entree plus?

then my Mcard is also a debit card for Entree Plus in addition to a debit card for TCF?

Then how do they know to which account am I charging?

And if I'm doing entree plus, do I still get the 13 meal/week plan? Or is that cancelled? Also, how much do meals cost? And how can I check my balance for Entree Plus? I know they send a statement but can I also check it online?

idk, this money thing is freaking me out. Like how do i know when to charge something on Entree Plus and when to charge it on TCF? Suppose I'm eating at Subway in the Union. Is it better to charge it on Entree Plus or TCF?

I have the whole TCF MCard deal as well. However, I'm now wondering if I should switch to the Michigan Credit Union. Let's just say that TCF has had quite a few problems with my account this summer which haven't been helping me place my confidence in them. Plus, if I switched to the Michigan Credit Union, the University would be in charge of my money which may make me feel a little better and safer. Plus, they seem more friendly. I don't know though.

So which is the "official" bank? TCF or Michigan Credit Union?

They're both supported by the University. However, TCF is a chain bank (For instance, there's one a little ways down the street from me, and I live over an hour away from Ann Arbor) with a partnership with the MCard Office. The Michigan Credit Union is a little bit more centered around the University community itself (through different benefits due to it being a credit union and not a bank). I'm not so sure that either is considered the "official" bank though. At least, that's my take on it.

jesus christ, barry, chill the eff out. it's just money. (:))

HAHAHAHAHAHA.....ok that was random
