It’s not so much the expense as it is getting to and from the airport. …I think we will just have to ask when we tour how that works!
I replied on another thread but if you’re planning to visit Wake maybe fly into Raleigh and see NC State, UNC CH, Duke, and/or Elon for comparison. I’ve always liked NC State. Nice campus, nice city, and nice weather. They have an Honors College which seems to be pretty good. If you’re interested in anything STEM it might be a good choice.
Certainly more flights into /from Charlotte and Raleigh but the Greensboro airport is a piece of cake and only 30 minutes from campus. Our experience has been it’s been very easy for S (no car) to get a ride to and from the Greensboro airport from a friend. That saves a lot of time and money as the shuttles / UBer to Charlotte are expensive. He has shared an Uber to Charlotte too. The school also has a shuttle service (privately owned) that is pretty good. We used it Thanksgiving freshman yr but since then, it’s been really easy to get a ride with friends. Some live local. Others have cars. Our S won’t have a car on campus until his senior yr.
@homerdog we live in the SF Bay Area and my son goes to Wake. Always flies into RDU. It is about 1:20 minutes very similar to the drive from CLT but less traffic. Honestly having been a lot now the drive is fine. More flights into CLT from CA but we are a United family and they don’t fly direct to CLT. For the amount of time the kids come home maybe 4 times a year it isn’t bad at all. IMHO the school is worth it
Also, if you can fly to Greensboro that is super easy like @rickle1 mentioned.
