AlcoholEdu USC

For those who have completed the AlcoholEdu.com course, do you recall what the Chapter 4 availability date for USC is?

Our son completed the pre-school course, and at the end, there was some mention of receiving an email to inform him of when to take the follow-up portion of the course. It indicated that the follow-up needs to be completed by Oct 6th.

Sounds like they have the students take the main course prior to starting the school year, and then there is a follow-up chapter (Chapt 4), after they have been in school for a while.

I did not watch my son go through the course, but my wife was in the room for portions of it - as my son went through the many screens, audios, videos, quizes, etc. From what my wife passed on to me, it sounds like it was an incredibly LONG course. I think he spent several hours, spread over several days, to get through it all. Then, there was a Final Exam at the end, requiring 80% or better. Luckily, he passed. I hate to imagine what the consequences of not getting 80%. (i.e., do they require non-passing grades to go through the entire course again?).

Anyone else have feedback, or thoughts on the course?

Here is a blurb from the official website:

*I am trying to access Chapter 4 (the last chapter) but I keep getting this message: “Thank you for returning to AlcoholEdu! You will be notified via email when it is time for you to return and complete the final portion of the course. In the meantime, please enjoy this AlcoholEdu Notebook.”

ANSWER:
You will be sent an email to the account you gave us when creating your login detail notifying you when it is time to log back into the course. Most schools have a 30 day wait, however, some may take up to 90 days to send the email and invite you back to finish Chapter 4.

NOTE: The waiting period before you can access the course again cannot be changed. If you do not get an email, you can still access Part 2 of the course once this period has been passed.*

Looking back through my old e-mail, I found an AlcoholEdu message from August 29, 2005 asking me to complete the final 15-minute section. I imagine the final chapter will again be available the first week of the fall term.

I agree that the program was very long. My parents made me take a drugs and alcohol course at school earlier in the summer, so I found a lot of the AlcoholEdu content repetitive. You can basically leave the chapter presentations running while you do other stuff. As long as you pass the quiz at the end of each section, it works out well.

Ah, you actually have your old USC emails? I didn't set up an email forwarding system until recently so all of my emails from first semester are gone. I think it's a very bad policy to delete messages older than 6 months (I think that's what it is).

I actually used my Gmail address for AlcoholEdu, so finding the old message took about two seconds.

I agree that the ISD 6-month policy is absurd. While the 75mb mailbox limit is reasonable, I think it should be up to users how to distribute those 75mb. If I want to use some of my space to preserve important messages, I don't see why they care how old the e-mails are.
