What does this reference mean on the Common Application on the page marked "My Checklist" ? I thought that all schools that have supplements will not review the application until both the common application + supplement are received ? The schools that are NOT one of the ALL-in-1 schools -----do they start reviewing the application before receiving their supplement ?
Thanks

It has nothing to do with when the schools review the applications. An all-in-one school only means that you must submit the Common App and the supplement together at one time. If it's not all-in-one, it means you can submit the Common App first and then submit the supplement later.

No school will start reviewing your application until it's complete. That means both the Common App and the supplement, as well as any required recommendations, transcripts, test scores, etc.

I don't know if they changed that from last year, but last year we were not forced to submit both the application and the supplement together even if it did say "you have to submit both at the same time." I sent my supplement for UPenn two weeks later than the general application because I thought that the message was telling me that it would submit the supplement automatically. And I was just fine, except for being past the deadline... :D

All-in-1 colleges don't receive your application at all until you submit everything that's required (that's what the Penn admission office told me - they contacted me because they had received all my application documents except for the application + supplement). Other schools receive each item individually at the time you submit it. It's just a technical difference that allows all-in-1 schools to process a little bit less paperwork.

Yes, you can actually click the supplement button later, but the Common App software will not transmit the application to the school until you've submitted both the application and the supplement.

Thanks Chedva.

all-in-1 just means the institution won't review your application until everything's submitted
