I'm a Freshman CS major in Engineering about to finish my first semester. I made this thread for you guys to post any pre/misconceptions you may have about Cornell, and I'll tell you how true or false they might be.

Are the classes truly as tough as everyone says they are?

In my experience, yes- the classes are tough. It takes a lot of studying and hard work to get a good grade. For example, take my multivariable calc class, the average for our two midterms was a 65/100 (with over 500 students in the class). A grade of B would be around 50 - 75 and an A would be 75+. Considering only 15-25% of students usually get As, that’s just hard the class is.
However, this is just an intro course- a “weeder” class if you will.

Engineering is not something you can lazy-line paint through. You have to really be passionate about learning and applying if you want to do really well.
