Anime Boston is not covered by tuition. The school might send a complementary bus on 3-day weekends, but unless it’s a school function (and even sometimes when it is a school function) those types of things are extra.

Our family (2 parents, 2 kids) has verizon and after the price for one phone, each additional one added to the plan is 9.99 per month. All calls to other verizon customers are free.

Our school recommends $40 per week allowance to be withdrawn on demand by the student. Son rarely takes out that much, but it is there for him if he needs it.

Not a parent and I realize I’m late posting, but I was going through this and just remembered an experience. My family had sprint plan where we had unlimited texting and a LOT of extra minutes. I’m not sure the cost. We switched to Virgin mobile thinking it’d be cheaper since its-pay-as-you-go (we had a lot of extra minutes) and my dad had to get a separate work phone. Its easy to say we have not enjoyed it. Phones were $300 EACH and we’re on the $30 unlimited texting /300 min plan right now and It is not well made. On sprint you can call your family without it counting against your minutes and 300 minutes (including calls to family) in all retrospect as a student still at home-is not enough. My parents didn’t factor that in. Opps. It was $900+$30*3 the first month alone for 2 teenagers and an adult. Also my mother’s phone hangs up when she tries to answer which is a flaw of the phone. Disappointing. The expensive phones were Christmas presents but we find not only their plans but their customer service flawed. Sprint seemed to work great in my-middle-of-nowhere-HS even with the thick brick walls and little service. Customer Service was always pleasant for us too. Just a little input. (: I never realized i cost as much as you guys are talking about. Uh-oh.

Speaking of copy paper…do we need to provide a printer for our son? We’ll send a lap top but is a printer needed too?

A printer isn’t absolutely necessary, but I think it’s helpful as it saves going to the library/computer lab or using a friend’s in the dorm. We watched for sales at the end of the summer and had a printer shipped directly to our son’s dorm from Newegg. I recommend a simple monochrome laser printer-- toner lasts much longer than ink cartridges. We got a basic model from Brother.

My daughter is remarking how many students are “tossing” their printers (and other assets) rather than hauling them home. I hear the same is going on at colleges - perfectly good things going into the dumpster. I told her to haul one home or give it to a local friend for storage over the summer.
