I was wondering…what type of questions does an ALO typically ask during an interview? I figured that most would be along the lines of “why do you want to go to the academy”, but it’s supposed to be about an hour long right? Does anyone remember what they were asked?
My interview is on Tuesday and I’m trying to prepare =]
THANK YOU!

I had mine last night. A lot of my interview consisted of questions like "Give me a time where you demonstrated character" and talking about things on my resume. Mine was 1.5 hours, but YMMV. A lot of open ended character questions, chit-chat about my various activities, talking about the admissions process, and of course the standard why the military/why the air force/why the academy routine.

Just be yourself. Don't try and BS too much (though a little "artful" BS'ing here and there can help make some activities seem a little more... important).

Hope that helps.

YMMV????

OGH - :)

"old guy here"

Your Mileage May Vary - YMMV

sorry to bring up the old thread.. ha
i had an hour long phone conversation w/ my ALO today as part of my interview, she's stoppin by here on the way to the academy for her sons graduation there in august.. mine was pretty much the same as those above, lots of open ended questions, talkin about different activities and such... she caught me completely off guard by callin today though. lol

You guys only had 1 meeting? I had 4 with my ALO including the one I had for SS. He said that the academy wanted us to meet more than once because they think that the Alo will get a better picture of the candidate if they meet more than once. Was this the same for anyone else? All my interviews were about 45min-1hr long.

see, that makes perfect sense... but it doesnt help my case that i'm 2+ hours from mine, so it'd be kinda impractical.. but i agree w/ meeting more than once, definitely

I had a single 1 hour meeting with mine 2 years ago. :)

My son had a one hour meeting with his ALO at the his High School, 2 years ago. That was his only contact.

My son had one meeting at a local library for the Summer Seminar interview. Then one meeting at the ALO's home for a little over an hour during the app process. That's all, and the ALO lives maybe 6 minutes from us.

lucky! haha.. mine was this mornin, and i thought it was amazing!! i didnt do bad at all, i dont think. lol. she asked me whether or not she's gotten the whole picture of Hal (thats me) yet, and i was like, well, we've only talked for a total of maybe, 2 hours (only an hour this mornin tho)...
good luck to everyone else!! now time for more nomination stuff.. ugh :)
