Alum interview

I do Brown interviews, too (overseas). Wear what you wear for school --but one of your "nicer" rather than "sloppier" outfits-- clean, unripped and with regular non-sport shoes. Best to feel comfortable and neat rather than "dressed up". Usually meet students at some kind of coffee place. BTW clothes play no role in my evaluation of the student.

I haven't been contacted yet. Do I still have time?

My Brown interviewer called 2 days ago and my sister took down the message. I keep calling and I left a message the first time, but she's never there!!! ahhhh.

You can definately still be contacted for an interview, I just got contacted on Monday and my interview is Thursday. Don't give up hope yet.

I just got an email. He mentioned that we had until March 1st.

Ok my interview is on monday! woohoo!
this is my 2nd to last interview, and who KNOWS if i will hear from my other school that i keep harassing about this, so maybe it's my last! i'm getting excited!

i was finally contacted by my alum. this will be my 6th and last interview yayyyy. i hope it goes well :)

good luck squiggle!
and thanks for reading all my essays haha

good luck to you, too, estrella! i can't believe we hear back from brown in less than two months!!
hey no problem, i really like editing essays.
:)

I applied to Brown but I am from San Diego and have not been contacted to have an interview. Does this mean the school has no interest in me?

Never fear Young Buddhist. I just got a call today form a kid who had not been contacted and it turned out he'd been assigned to the wrong geographic code so our area never even knew about him. It was some sort of human error in-putting all the kids into the system.

Call the admission office Monday and ask for an interview; and don't take it personally, you have probably been assigned to someone in Alaska or Brazil by accident.

i have my interview for brown tomorrow...any tips?
i've done a couple interviews, but yeah...

Be as specific as you can about why you want to go to Brown --not just the generic Ivy school. Talk up any community service involvement you have and why it is important to you. If your interviewer is an alum, show genuine interest in his/her Brown experience.

Am I the only one who was told that the interview does not affect admission in the slightest bit? The woman who I met with told me that it would be possible for me to be accepted even if I told her I was an axe murderer... and I don't think she was saying that in order to pacify me.

uhh...my interviewer def did not mention that to me.

Guitarrman-- I get the same feeling, even though I greatly enjoyed my interviews. Logistically, there is no standard, and therefore the interview cannot have any measurable effect no matter what school it is associated with.

The interview is as much for student to know more about Brown as it is the reverse.

Well if that really is the case and the interview does not affect admission-- I hope that she still puts a good word in for me anyway :)

I just had my interview and I think it went pretty well. My interviewer was really laid back and nice. It was kinda weird, for some reason we were talking about going to hookah bars, i hope they don't think i'm a hookah burn out or something. But otherwise it went pretty well!
