Alumni network and job placement?

Can anyone talk about how strong the Tufts alumni network is, and whether it helps with job placement? How about just job placement in general? In today’s economy, it’s something we are looking at closely when looking at potential colleges, and I can’t find anything on their website about employment statistics. Thank you!

I remember D1 showing me a social media map with locations of recent grads scattered across the world.

On a small anecdotal level, D1 (who graduated last May) has met up with Tufts alums at both her tech firm and also in the greater San Francisco/Silicon Valley area. People do talk about job placement and opportunities…but she also hears the same kinds of conversations with other friends in the area who are in the same industry. Also, D1’s bosses asked her to pass forward resumes if she knew anyone at Tufts who’d be a good match for the firm. This of course is not unique to Tufts.

I hate to say it but unfortunately I don’t think Tufts’ strength lies in the ability of the alumni network to help boost your initial career. I live in San Francisco and there are a decent amount of Jumbos around (if you know where to look) and they seem to be willing to help out but I got a job straight out of grad school (where I went from Tufts) and haven’t needed their assistance. In talking with friends in New York City (where there are certainly many more Tufts alums) several of them have been somewhat disappointed in the strength of the alumni network relative to those of many other top institutions.

That said, the vast majority of my friends have gone on to get cool jobs and/or enroll in prestigious grad/professional programs since graduation several years ago.
