Alumni Recommendations

<p>I'm applying to Duke and I have a close family friend who is an alumna. She was also married to the football coach until he died. She and much of her family has attended Duke and been financially generous.</p>

<p>Would it help me to include a recommendation from her with my application or would it look like I was grasping for something to stand out? I have a fairly strong application without it.</p>

<p>If she has connections in the development office because she’s a major, and wants to go out on a limb for you it can help. A letter to admissions will not.</p>
