<p>Does it help an application at all if alumni of the school write you a recommendation letter? One of my family friends is a Deerfield alum, and I was curious if getting a recommendation from him would help my chances.</p>
<p>Unless the alumni knows you really well, and can offer insight that your teachers/principal cannot, it is unlikely that this rec will serve any positive purpose.</p>
