Is it better to write straight-forward, informational essays (like the UC Admissions essays) or the more creative/fancy kind we write to private schools? Does anybody know? Especially anybody who has received the award, any input? Thanks

Bump
Thanks

Good question. I don't know. I just assume that most students...er...re-purpose essays they wrote for applications and use those for the alumni s'ship essays. Does anyone know if the alumni deciders see the full UC admissions application or the essays from them?

I'm not positive that this is right, but I'm writing the first one (the mandatory one) in a pretty straight-forward style, with some ideas "borrowed" from my UC essay (a few lines copied verbatim, but not the whole thing in case they actually can see our whole application). My other two essays are a little more creative/informal, but so are the topics, so I think it'll be okay.
