Weldon: After a while the money doesn't seem to be a lot. An entry-level engineer starts out in the mid 50k, which is good since I live in a low cost-of-living area but if the job takes away from your life at home the money doesn't matter. Once you reach the supervisor level it doesn't make sense to work for the money. Supervisors are set to start out at 85k and work their way up to 100k. For the amount of work they do and the hours they put in, the deserve to start out at 100k. The managers make in the 100k somewhere and get nice bonuses. Also, I get overtime but as straight time. If I didn't have a degree I would get time-and-a-half and double time. But I guess having a degree means you don't deserve the extra money.

Some power plants are very demanding, especially if they are major generators, and someone has to do the work. But finding the people to do it is not easy.
