Am I at a disadvantage if...

Hey there everyone! I was wondering, am I at a disadvantage if the school I go to an extremely noncompetitive rural high school? Just to elaborate, my school has about 550 students in a small rural town in Wisconsin (pop...8,000ish). The best college anyone has ever gotten into was MIT 2 years ago & Yale last year.

I'm just concerned that adcoms will look down at my accomplishments because they have no way of comparing to some of my fellow CC'ers. My stats are decently solid though; 4.0 UW, 4.3 W, 30 ACT (from sophomore year, will retake this year), some medals from academic bowl, ect.

I'm just wondering, since I don't have access to the same resources as someone from, say New York City, would it have an adverse effect on my application? Thanks in advance.

I’d like to know this too, so someone please respond. :P

Nope, colleges take that into consideration

Colleges want to know if you took every opportunity available to you. They are well aware that not everyone has unlimited money and resources at their fingertips. The NYC CC’ers are very much a type. Colleges need many different types.

(I was a rural kid who went to a “Little Ivy”; my sister went to Yale.)

They take everything into account (or so they say).
