Am I being overly ambitious? (Transferring out of Mcgill)

I'm currently a freshman science student at Mcgill University and have been having trouble deciding whether or not I should be applying to other colleges for the next school year. My reasons for leaving Mcgill:

I hate the bureaucracy here. I'm in the life sciences faculty, and it makes sense that I would like to take an introductory psychology course and some French (I'm from the U.S.), but I was closed off from both these courses. And it's not like I didn't try to get in: I talked to the profs, advisors, and other college officials, and no luck or help whatsoever. Also, because of AP credit, it would be nearly impossible to take other classes outside of my major.

I feel like there is no real challenge to the academics here. This may only be because I'm currently in freshman classes (microeconomics, chemistry, first year seminar, and java programming), but I have not needed to exert myself mentally in any way whatsoever. I'm expecting my GPA for this year to be 4.0 (I've been nearly acing my midterms, etc. etc.), and I feel like I could use this to get into a better university. I decided to go to Mcgill due to the strength of its life sciences, but it is not evident to me yet that they are actually as much as a challenge as I thought they would be.

Montreal is nice and all, but I feel like I could be receiving a better education elsewhere. Is this a good reason to try to transfer out?

P.S. I would be applying to some higher tier American schools (Northwestern, Michigan, some ivies)

I totally agree with you about McGill’s bureaucracy. Its a pain to deal with. I’m planning on transferring because dealing with the red tape has been nothing short of a nightmare to handle.
I’m assuming you were given AP/IB credit meaning you had to choose your major before even registering for classes? Same here.

And I don’t know about you but I was only assigned an advisor a week ago while my friends at US colleges got their’s as soon as they enrolled.

I am progressively getting more and more frustrated and the only thing keeping me here is the tuition.
