On the other hand, getting Bs because you didn’t turn in your homework or something like that is foolish and shortsighted. It’s sensible to take reasonable steps to keep your grades up. Getting good grades can help you meet your longterm goals, just like practicing a musical instrument or a sport can.

you should get ready to pump gas for a living.

man. seeing this type of attitude from a ninth grader gives me that “oh to be young again and know what i know now” feeling. you should be worried about other things for a while, and not whether one B will ruin your hopes and dreams. keep college in the periphery for now and play some sports, or halo, or w/e you do before you have to worry about anything really critical.

personally, i always wanted to go to harvard as well at that time. stressed on each and every little hw assignment and meaningless quiz. got all A’s… good sat scores, etc etc etc what everyone has, but it wasn’t good enough still. im a junior at cornell now and im very satisfied and (somewhat) sure it’ll keep me from feeding out of dumpsters. don’t freak, just enjoy the ride that is life.

Princeton and Stanford don’t even look at frosh yr =]

techy, they’ll still look at it to see there are no B’s. It’ll burn a hole in their eyes.

^ lolololol

Just try your best. Grades matter but it’s not the end of the world if you get a B. or two or three as long as you’re taking challenging courses.

I got a B freshmen year in science and I was so worried because I thought if I got a B first semester of freshmen year, then how in the world am I supposed to get As later when the classes are harder? But by working harder and taking things more seriously, I haven’t gotten a B since. And now I really don’t care about that B back in the 9th grade. I learned alot in that class and I really tried…just not early enough to get my grade up

Great, i gots a 3.8
haha

Lets see, after geometry is just gets harder so you might get Bs in alg2/trig, pre calc, calc, stats. Spanish gets harder to so the Bs keep rolling in. Hopefully that doesn’t happen to you.

People say you can get into harvard with Bs, but thats just 1-2 Bs.

Don’t worry about it, plue00 is wrong. I got in, and I got a B in French every semester for three years. And three B’s in math over my four years. A few B’s won’t make or break an application. Just as having all A’s won’t get you in. It is nice, but I can’t see having all A’s as a factor that separates someone from the applicant pool in any way.

It depends on the difficulty of the course. Hopefully Harvard won’t hold it against me for the B in Driver’s ED. Yeahhh…

Absolutely not. It shows you’re human. Harvard can’t see much through all A’s except that you did very well. The B shows a little struggle.

On a side note, I know someone who was accepted into Harvard with a B average in high school. I wouldn’t advise you to set your standards and goals for just a B average though. Don’t fret.
