Am I doomed or do I have a chance for these schools?!

I recently just started senior year and I am working my BUTT off because I need to do well.

I have a 2.9 GPA from freshman and sophomore year and a 3.5 GPA from junior year. I hope to repeat my 3.5 for senior year, or even higher.

I have really good extracurriculars. I want to be a Journalist so I interned at my towns newspaper and wrote 3 front page articles. I'm a peer leader, secretary for a club for 4 years, and do various tasks for the schools newspaper.

However, I do horrible at standardize tests. I got a 1450 on my SAT's, but I'm retaking them in October. I took the ACT's without practicing and got a 21, which is better than a 1400...so I'm studying for those.

I'm from CT so I want to go to UConn, but I have a feeling that is deffintitly a reach school even though its very random...some kids from my school got in with a 2.9 GPA. I am also looking at Rutgers and SUNY New Paltz.

I am currently taking an AP English course, by the way. During my freshman year I was in an average level class ACP, but slowly moved my way up to the highest level. I am hoping colleges will see that I worked hard to enchance my writing.

Do you think I have a shot at getting into these schools?

Rutgers and UConn will be both difficult if you can’t raise that SAT score. Hopefully you’ll do well on your ACTs.

I hope you play basketball and is one of the ESPN top 50. If not raise that SAT fast!
