Adapting to a completely different school system (moving back to SoCal from a developing country) was very tough the past 6 months, specially living away from my family, my first semester of junior year was HORRIBLE. I really am going to give it my all this semester and get mostly As, minimum B’s. The school isn’t allowing me to take APs now. My senior year I’m going to take AP Gov, AP Macroeconomics along with 2 semesters of a foreign language (that will count as 2 years). I really want to get into a UC (UCLA, UC Berkeley, UCSD, UCSB) or USC. I know it’s crazy to even think of it considering my grades but I am so passionate about human’s rights and equality. I want to major in Peace and Conflict Studies, and hopefully land an internship with an international NGO, where I’m based overseas helping the poor. I love people and I honestly think Berkeley is the PLACE for me since I feel like that’s the place where all activists go. That’s my dream. I want to help the world, the outside world. I really want to travel and help the women and children who are victims of abuse, rape, education deprived etc. That’s something I really want to do in my life. Any advice on Universities? And can you tell me where you see me heading? Are my dreams shattered? Thanks.
