am i killing myself with this class schedule?

I am going to take these classes in Fall
Chem 110A
Chem 153A
Chem 171
History 11B

The history 11B is a G.E. class but I DO REALLY HATE history since I hate writing essay, memorizing stuff...etc and I am thinking if I cannot handle chem 110A or history 11B, i will take pass/no pass for history 11B or even drop chem 110A or history11B. In fact I am a transfer student and I know taking 3 science classes in one quarter is like a hell.. but I doubt if i can complete everything in the following 2 years since I haven't done any GEs. Also, I would like to go to grad. school and if i take pass no pass for the history 11B class, does it harm my chance? And what's the maximum number of unit I can take for Pass/ No Pass? Thank you so much

It sounds like a pretty tough schedule. If you’re worried about completing GEs, what about taking them during summer school? They can be completed in community college as well.

thanks a lot, do you think i should drop one of the science classes or the history one? And also, is that the G.E classes are easier in summer? Any suggestions?

I think it’s way to hard. Even if you are really smart it will be physically demanding just to walk to all of those classes and have all your books and notes in order even if three of them are chem classes.
You might end up harming your chances of grad school if you overdo it.
Iv’e had no experience with pass/no pass classes so im not to sure about that.
Definitely take classes in the summer. CC’s are usually not as hard as ucla and ucla summer session classes are usually easier than the regular quarter classes

thx tumblewe3d and bruin22, i am thinking of dropping the history or the chem class, i don’t think talking 3 science classes is a good idea but i do really hate history… is it doable for 3 chemistry class in a quarter?

My son as a sophomore took four classes similar to yours. That quarter he spent every moment studying. About three weeks into quarter - midterms, another two to three weeks- midterms again and the two to three weeks - finals. Don’t forget to factor in any additional papers, etc.
You should talk to your counselor.

If you’re a chemistry major or are particularly good at chemistry then that schedule is not as hard as everyone is making them sound. Kaner is a great professor, and Felker & Weiss are both doable (from what I hear)

If you’re a biochemistry major and don’t really like the chemistry then it might be wise to drop one of the chem classes, especially since you’ll be taking 171 & 110A with chem majors who eat that stuff up.

If I wanted to drop one of the classes I would say drop one of the chemistrys. I think a little variety definitely helps you stay sane in the long run.
