Am I missing out by not considering LACs? If so, which ones would be for me?

I am a senior this year, and lately have been wondering if my lack of research into LACs is a mistake. I want a fun college experience at a school with good academics, preferably in a city. My list right now is Georgetown (#1), GW, Tufts, WashU... but I'm not sure where else exactly. I want to study int'l relations with a strong focus on foreign language (hence, Gtown), but my intended major is not the most important thing in the school. I really want a school with normal, fun kids who are very intelligent but like to have a good time. I am Jewish and liberal, but not overly radical. Any ideas of what LACs I should look into, or if an LAC wouldn't really be for me because I want a semi-traditional college experience? I'd love Midd for its int'l relations/languages... if it wasn't in the middle of nowhere.

How about Brandeis?

Macalester, maybe? It is in St.Paul... It's supposed to be very international, too.

What do you want out of your school experience? What do you consider to be a "semi-traditional college experience"?

We could throw out names of good LACs all over the country, but that won't help you. Do some investigation (including searching these boards) about the differences between universities and LACs. LACs aren't for everyone (although Tufts is often considered "LAC-like"); neither are universities.

Until you can define your wants and needs, no one can tell you if LACs are "for you" or not.

"I really want a school with normal, fun kids who are very intelligent but like to have a good time. "

For LAC's, look at Vasser, Mac, Connecticut College, Bowdoin, Centre, Colgate.

I also don't quite know what you are looking for regarding a semi traditional experience.

Salpert,

Do take a look at Pomona College. You may like what you see.

Not really wanting to be in Minnesota, so eh on Macalester. I'm def gonna look at Pomona.

Lewis & Clark College in Portland is supposed to be good for international relations. Like 70% or something do a study abroad program, as well.
