I hear about the high stat reject horror stories and am a touch worried lol. Am I close to guaranteed?
- Although it's a holisitc admit, it still weighs stats quite heavily and you are in great shape. Actually I think you're a great candidate for a scholarship although not sure what they do for OOS. I'm assuming your OOS by your name.
- GREAT NAME!! We are too (but FL based - kids were born and raised here but you would think otherwise if you met them - guess that has something to do with me :smile: )
@rickle1 My dad raised me right (accent and everything) in FL! Thanks for the feedback, and I hope the pats half of my name has a better ending to 2019 than the Sox did.
It can depend upon your major and when you sent the application. Some of these schools are rolling in filling seats, and when seats are full, doors are shut.
Early applications, EA,rolling can be safeties And early warning systems because early enough to make other plans if they don’t work out.
I don’t think that UF should be considered a safety school. I’ve seen kids with super high stats get into Ivys and not get into UF. I’ve also seen kids with lower stats get in. Best of luck to everyone applying this year!
The short answer is no UF is not a safety school. UCF would be a safety for sure though.
Apply to a Boston College. You can root for your teams, be at a top school and follow great school sports all on campus in the world’s finest college “town”.
Lol. But we’d love to have back in your home away from home. Lol.
You’ll be in good shape for UF. However the honors college, unlike most schools, is not a merit based process. It involves an essay which is most determinative and students in a honors college essay class help select the admits. They do have some auto admits based on stats which you may get. They also allow anyone else to apply after year one and there’s not a heck of a lot more than early course selection and some great events. But the housing and team building etc doesn’t happen as I recall.
It will be free for you most likely so don’t overlook hat either.
Lastly apply to FSU as your true safety and honors college safety and it’s a really good school as well.
@privatebanker
Would LOVE to come back, so it’s Harvard’s fault if I don’t hahah. Applied to Harvard EA and will do BU by the scholarship deadline (won’t go unless ~30k a year given free UF), but both seem quite unlikely. Thanks for the input!
I think you are as close to a shoe-in as can be expected but if you are paranoid express interest by visiting UF and asking for a tour, go to the admissions office and introduce yourself and talk about your stats. Ask about the honors college and possible scholarships.
You may get rejected if UF thinks you are half assing your application thinking they are a safety. It sometimes happens with extremely well qualified candidates.
If safety means no chance of being denied then no, but your profile is above and beyond probably the top 5% of admits. My daughter was admitted with a 1440 and 4.0 GPA. You should be in no problem.
