Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and I'm sorry if I sound obnoxious, I just really think Pomona is an awesome school and I can picture myself there more than anywhere else.

Academically and EC-wise, you seem to be doing well; however, much of what you’re doing is focused on the cerebral. Is there anything you’re doing that is pushing you out of your comfort zone or requires you to acquire new skills or presents a certain challenge for you? Remember that lots of highly intelligent, talented, and unique HS students apply to Pomona for admission. If you look at the stats for accepted and rejected, you’ll find many similarities. You might want to think about what will set you apart.

Good luck!

Also, I recommend taking the PSAT and the PLAN (pre-ACT) in the fall of your sophomore year. Those tests will give you some score predictors and a good idea of strengths and weaknesses so you can prepare for the real SAT and ACT.

Little Mother- Thank you so much for responding! Yes, I definitely agree that I need something that sets me apart from all the other qualified applicants but I’m really not sure what that is yet… I guess I have time to think about that.

PomKid95- Thank you for responding too! I agree about the PSAT and PLAN. I’m pretty sure my school makes us take the PSAT’s next year and I’ll definitely look into taking the PLAN. Thank you for the tip :)

Seeing as you’re already thinking about college in your freshman year definitely means you’re on the right track. Keep up those grades and activities and you’ll no doubt be a great candidate for Pomona. On another note, be sure that Pomona, a private school, is financially affordable for your family. Dream schools can crush your dreams when you find our your family can’t afford to pay what the colleges expect you to pay. Good luck!
