Am I on the right track? UF, UCF?

I'm a junior in high school, and a resident in Florida. I am aiming for an engineering degree from UF or UCF. my question are what university would be better, and how do my stats look for a UF applicant.

Here are my stats:

GPA(unweighted) - 3.34
GPA (weighted) - 3.90
ACT composite - 25
SAT - haven't yet taken (dec. 5th)
Grades - A's/B's (AP, and DE classes)
Clubs - Mu Alpha Theta (national math club), Engineering Club, Spanish club, and JV baseball (on team for 9th grade fall season, did not make team sophomore year)
Other information - I have been doing volunteer work, and when i graduate i will have 150 hours. Also i have a job, and i work about 5 hours a night, 2 or 3 nights a week. I don't really know how UF views this but, I have a long legacy at UF.

Another question i have is about Dual Enrollment programs. I can go to a "state college" for my senior year, or i can attend my high school one more year. If i decide to stay at my high school i will be in many AP classes. Opinion on that problem too, please.

If any other information is need, please feel free to request it, and any other information is welcome! Thanks for your help.

For UCF, sure. You might get into UF, but you should try to raise that ACT score or do really well on the SAT to make up for the low weighted GPA (low for UF, that is).

I am pretty familiar with UF admissions.

Right now your application would be a little below average given middle set of GPA for UF is 4.2-4.4 and the middle set of the ACT is 29-31. But you have several strong factors to your application since you have a job and good extracurriculars.

I would STRONGLY recommend you don’t do the state college thing. I had a friend who was rejected, even though he had a 2030 SAT and a 4.0 GPA. because he basically had too many dual enrollment credits to be considered as applying for a freshmen.

Take some AP’s Senior year at your high school and I think you have a good chance.

Thanks for the advice! I am very confident that I can raise my GPA, so it isn’t worrying me too much. I was really going back and both between the dual enrollment program, so i scheduled a meeting with my guidance counselor to receive her opinion.
