Am I On the Right Track?

I'm currently a junior in high school, and William and Mary's pretty much always been my dream school. I stayed there for a Model UN conference, and fell in love with the campus and the people! I wanted to know if I have a chance of getting in. I moved from Massachusetts to Virginia this summer, and it's been difficult adjusting to the different school systems.

In Massachusetts, I took level 5 classes (the classes were ranked 1-5, with 5 being the hardest, they generally did not offer core AP classes), maintained a 95 unweighted GPA during both Freshman and Sophomore year, ran cross country and track, and helped to start a Model United Nations club during sophomore year.

Here, I am taking AP Human Geography, AP Environmental Science, AP Lang, Trigonometry, and German I (I would be continuing my fourth year of Latin, but they do not offer it here).

I am also scheduled to take the SAT in November. I have taken the PSAT twice, and scored 70 CW, 65 M, 64 W

Any feedback or advice would be appreciated! :)

Stay in state. Your chances get torpedoed if you are OOS.

Keep up the grades in the most challenging classes. Mostly As, some Bs are fine, avoid Cs.

Take sample SAT and ACT tests, and then concentrate on preparing for whichever you score better (higher percentile) on.

Figure out what you enjoy most outside of class, and then participate and develop that as much as you possibly can. Your ECs are what will distinguish you from every other transcript. Depth of interest and participation in something you’re passionate about is more important than breadth of activities.

Take a deep breath and relax. You still might not get in to W&M, but you might also prefer another school a year from now, one you haven’t even heard of yet. Don’t worry about W&M (or any particular school) right now; worry about learning and growing and being as ready as you possibly can to enter (young) adulthood.

Thanks for responding, and for the great advice! I’m trying not to get too stressed about this, but as you can see I’m not doing so well with that!
Right now I’m trying to shift my focus to extra curriculars and trying to get more involved in the school. I think once I get settled in more I’ll be more confident and won’t stress this as much!
