I live in Saudi Arabia(grade 10th). I am an Indian.
The thing is that here in Saudi Arabia you have no opportunities at all.
No Olympiads and no chance of doing any research .
Talking about extra-curriculars I am good in sports
play all kinds of sports and am pretty good at it
so if I have very good SAT scores and with all these extra-curriculars , do I have a chance of getting into Stanford?
Assuming that I score 90% or above in my 12th grade
My writing this so that I can improve on my application as I have around 2 years to prepare .
Being Indian living in Saudi Arabia could provide a good scenario for an interesting essay. My guess is playing sports is not going to help that much. It might be helpful to engage in some kind of activity that you have a passion for to show some sort of dedication to an activity other than schoolwork.
My passion is badminton. Will that help?
You don’t have to participate in research or science competitions. You do need to show intellectual curiosity and passion. Doing things that are beyond what is expected of you and beyond the accomplishments of your peers is what Stanford would want to see.
You can message people on college confidential… You have the whole internet open to you. Figure out what you love academically and learn as much about as you can. Don’t need to participate in olympiads or organized events to learn.
