Am I slacking with my AP's?

I plan on applying to UC Berkeley, USC, NYU, UCLA, and northwestern.

I am going into my junior year in high school and I was wondering is my schedule "rigorous" enough? These are the classes I've taken so far, btw my GPA's aren't accurate but they are either that or higher.

Freshman year: Algebra 1 honors, Biology honors,World History honors,English 1 honors, Band, and gym.
GPA: 3.8 weighted and 4.1 unweighted

Sophomore year:US history honors, AP environmental science, English 2 honors,French 2,and Law studies.
GPA: 3.8 weighted and 4.1 unweighted
AP score for environmental: 4

This is what my Junior year schedule will look like: AP psychology,AP Government, AP Chemistry, AP English Language, French 3 honors,Pre-calc honors, and i'll be working at my schools bank as an elective.

EC's: BETA club,Ebony club,Drama club, Law club, JV track and field,JV basketball, Varsity flag football, and I'm a weekly volunteer at an elementary school. Oh and I'm Junior Class secretary of my school.

Other stuff: I write scripts, I'm writing a script for a thespian festival that is held in the state I live in(this script will be judged competitively), I play 7 different instruments, French is my first language, I'm a first generation American in my family, and I study for the SAT in my free time lol.

How can I better myself for these schools? And is what I'm doing right so far on regards of the classes I'm taking?

I plan on majoring in media and communications. I'm an African American female if that helps as well.

You probably mean 3.8 unweighted and 4.1 weighted GPAs.

Have you talked to your parents about what they are willing to contribute to your college education and to get numbers to put into each school’s net price calculator?

Your state of residency is also relevant – Berkeley and UCLA tend to have good financial aid for California residents, but will not cover the non-resident additional tuition with financial aid (except for a few rare merit scholarships).

Yes, sorry I confuse the two a lot. And I come from a single parent household so my mother refuses to tell me our annual income and etc.

Your credentials are excellent. Don’t try to add anything more (I wonder if 4 APs is overkill?). Take time to smell the roses and be a well-rounded person.

Better to go deep into a few ECs than to try to add a long list to your resume.

You will definitely go far.

I took 2 APs my Junior year, had a mediocre ACT, wasn’t a URM, and didn’t speak french or play 7 instruments.

I was accepted to most of the schools on your list.

You’re fine.

Really?? This is great to hear thank you for all of the responses.

When did you take geometry and algebra 2?

Taking difficult classes is what colleges care about, not AP specifically. Many top colleges don’t hold the AP program in very high regard these days. You’ll be fine.

Good luck! :)

@classof2015 I took geometry during the school year and Algebra 2 online.

During my sophomore year.
