What are my chances at these schools?
Columbia
Brown
JHU
Georgetown SFS
Tufts
NYU
George Washington
UMD-CP
American
UMBC (safety)

I believe your odds at all those schools are very high. Good luck in the process!

Alot of those schools don’t just consider stats (which you have a good shot at except for your GPA, but you can explain your circumstances on the app), they place a high emphasis on essays and recommendations. Get those up and you’ll have a decent+ shot at getting into those schools.

Thanks guys. I know that at least one of my teacher recommendations will be excellent, and the one from the guidance counselor should be pretty good too. My essay is about my father going to jail and how that affected me and changed me, it should be good. Do you guys think that I can realistically get into Columbia and Brown?

I do. Your background is compelling, and your scores demonstrate that you can do the work. My son’s friends at Columbia are an extremely diverse group, and it sounds like you can add to the mix. Give it a whirl!

shameless bump

I don’t see you getting rejected from anywhere. Great work.

You’re good. Might want to throw the reach app to Stanford and Yale just for kicks. You never know

I think you have a good shot at all of these schools. Have you considered Penn? It’s similar to a lot of the schools on your list.

Thanks a lot everybody. I think I’m going to add Yale to my list, and maybe Stanford or Princeton, so chances for those schools would be greatly appreciated as well. I just wanted to add that I’ve done around 800 hours of volunteer work, at a local hospital and teaching summer school, if that helps at all with your chance-ing.

Any more chances?

Last bump before I let this thread die. I will chance people back!
