I hope someone could help me with this. I am going into my senior year of high school, and I've just decided I want to become a pediatrician. The only problem is that I've gone throughout school thinking I wanted to do something with art or fashion, so I've never really taken many science classes that would be recommended for someone planning on going to school for medicine. I've taken Biology and and an Anatomy class as a half year elective and other unrelated science classes. I've already submitted my schedule for my senior year and I'm taking absolutely no science classes.
I've always had a problem deciding exactly what I wanted to do with my life so I chose art or fashion because I always seemed to be good at both but there's no career that seemed interesting to me. I always said jokingly "I wish I could just become a doctor" but there's no way I could afford that considering I would have no financial help from my parents. I know I should have thought of this sooner and started planning but I thought real hard these past few days about it and it makes sense because even though med school and everything is so expensive, I'd be making enough to pay it all back and I'd be helping people, which I love doing.
So basically all I want is advice as to whether it would be smart to decide to take this jump into medicine or to just stick with what I know and try something else. Thank you very much in advance!
By the way I live in New York and plan on going to school in New York City, regardless of what I decide to do. Also I took the SATs and got a 1470 but I totally plan on retaking them in October.
