Test scores: ACT 35 C (non-superscored: 35 M, 34 E, 36 S, 35 R)
GPA: 3.95/4.0 (unweighted from a large, noncompetitive public school: 3.8 Freshman year and 4.0 since)

EC’s: Competitive swimmer (not a recruit) for 3 years. Most likely able to be a walk-on. Chess Club, Knowledge Bowl, NHS, the usual. Worked at Subway for 1.5 years and for my school for 2 years (lots of work).
Volunteered ~ 60 hours this past summer. Mensan active member and magazine writer. Evergreen Boys State participant (and won a scholarship from it). Nothing too groundbreaking here.

Demographics:
Your typical/generic upper middle class white male. I am from Washington State, so quite a bit away. Not an east coaster.
You look like a great candidate. As I’m sure you’re aware, at this level you just never know. You seem like you’ve done all the right things to make sure you’re well-considered. Good luck.
Your grades make you competitive but you should reach out to the coach if you have not done so already
Check your times with those of the other swimmers

good luck
I agree with Fleish. Also you have the stats but you need a compelling story-? why Midd. Write an excellent essay and make your case. Being from Washington state is a plus for you.
Obviously it varies with essays, teacher recommendations, and whatnot but I can tell you that I was very similiar to you (1 ACT point less, .1 GPA less, and similar ECs) and I was accepted last year. I’m also from WA state too! I’d say you have a good shot but nothing is guaranteed.
Your essay should hold the attention of Middlebury admissions officers who are looking for incite as to how you would contribute to Middlebury… for example work ethic, unique perspective, intellectual curiosity etc. etc… something personal about you that cannot be gleaned from the rest of your application.
Stats are truly impressive. Touch base with Swim Coach Rueppel. He’s very approachable and may be able to offer some little assistance. In a sane world, you wouldn’t need it (with those numbers), but college admissions at elite schools is crazy these days. Good luck!
