Susan,

Congratulations on your new role, You'll be great. Like Sac, I am sorry I have no more kids to put through the process.

Congrats on your role as advisor, even if it isn't new,its new to us!
Might I add that since CC decided to add an advisor for theater program admissions, perhaps they would consider an advisor for music kids as well.Their path is complicated and convoluted as well.

Gosh, I'm blushing...you guys are unreal. I feel like I just had a toasting party or some such. But thanks for the confidence and the support and the friendship. Again, just to say, this is NOT a new role for me, as I have been doing this for a while but just never said so on the boards. So, no new role here. Just new to you.

Cathymee, they really did not add a theater program advisor. I was and continue to do all college advising, including selective college admissions. It is just that we added a theater package since I have expertise in that area and from the popularity of the theater boards here, there are some who might want that kind of assistance. I agree that help with a music student is just as critical as it is also a specialized admissions/audition process. I can help with that as well though I have more expertise with theater programs. We do counsel all students.

Driver...as far as any "insider treatment"....well, um.....let's say...ONE: I gave and keep giving lots of help on the forum as a volunteer because I want to, though won't do the individualized ongoing treatment on the message board. TWO: if someone signs up for college counseling of any sort, and I "know" 'em from the board, it will be like "family".
:D (I'll have to assume "family" is a good thing, lol).

Thanks everyone!
Susan

Congratulations, Soozie!!!! The families who come to you will be in expert and caring hands.

More transparency on CC is a good thing!

Soozievt,
Congratulations on your position as college counselor. I have really enjoyed reading your posts over the past year and know you provide excellent guidance to the students. I will continue to read your comments - and all the great advice on CC - as I prepare for next year when I will go through this process with my daughter. CC is lucky to have you on board.

Hope you are not too lonely with both girls out of the house!

Wonderful news, I hope they are paying you by the word! ;)

Soozie:

I'm so glad you took the plunge. Your advice is invaluable.

Susan,
That's wonderful news. Thanks for sharing. You've always been a great help to so many.

Lucky families to have you to guide them through this process

Warmest congratulations! You have so much important info for families interested in such a specialized area. It's great that you're now in an even better position to share your information.

Well, this is news to me......intriguing that you have been doing the counseling already in addition to just posting as a mom.....now that our hindsight has been illuminated, your posts always went the extra sentence or paragraph or two to ensure the message was clear and concise. I always felt that your posts were very thorough and detailed and that a lot could be learned from you. Kids interested in theatre definitely can benefit from your experience and advice.

I think anyone you work with will benefit. Congrats to CC for recognizing your talent...and commitment to the kids......best wishes!!

Great news, Susie in Vermont. You are always a constructive and helpful voice, and have the stripes to prove experience in what can be a bewildering college search for entry to arts programs. Pleased for you! pleased for your future clients even more....
by the way, I have always dreamed of being a June Taylor dancer..how can I break into the right training program?

Susan, I'm picturing you one day a couple of years back saying, "I Can Do That," straight out of chorus line. And you can! Best of luck.

Soozie, congrats.

By the way, you are an alumna, not an alumnus, unless I've got your gender confused!!! (important to keep the latin terminology straight now that you're a professionall educator!)

How on earth did I miss seeing this before? Congratulations, Susan - you are an awesome addition to the CC staff!

Soozie, that's good news. I've always enjoyed your posts, and I'm certain you'll be of great assistance to your clients.

Soozie,

I'm mostly a lurker on the Parents' Forum, but have always appreciated the information you've provided. The new venture for theater programs sounds like a great idea for cc and for you. I echo the other congratulations and wish you the best.

Soozie,

while I'm happy for you, as a fellow parent/poster on CC, that you have advanced your career, I also find it disquieting that some posters on the forum have two roles.

It seems that I'm perhaps the only one who feels this way.

In any case, good luck with your new job.

Congratulations Susan! I have enjoyed your posts and found them both interesting & informative. I'm sure it will be very rewarding for you to use your knowledge and skills to help others on a one-on-one basis.
