Amazing Race 2022

Oh. man. I love the challenges so far. I would hate to do the flag art one, and love the way the two guys couldn’t believe the mail one was so easy so stayed behind. Doh!

Decorating a cake would be easy for me, but getting held up by darts, just sad

Made me miss traveling in the worst way–would LOVE to visit London! We have a trip scheduled to Scotland in fall 2022 (fingers crossed) so will be watching next week’s Glasgow episode with great interest.

Wonderful start to the season! I was thinking…I was in London just a few weeks before they were - I’d have gone nuts if I’d seen them filming the show!

Often when I watch, I imagine myself in the position of the racers, and it’s usually with my D (we are both fans, and when she was younger, and lived at home, we’d watch together). Last night was “our” legs! She lived in London for a year, so would have shepherded us along perfectly, the art flag challenge was made for us both, in a (very!) past life I was head cake decorator for Baskin Robbins, and she knows every flag of the world somehow! The mail rail would have been pretty easy for either of us. And the idea that we could enjoy a cuppa with Phil…well… :blue_heart:

Bring on next week!

It looks like at least one person has not learned how to drive a stick. :man_facepalming:

I guess we should be happy that nobody chose the flag of Jamaica.

I’ll assume this does not count as a spoiler, but for those playing along at home, the flags were

Top: Sierra Leone, United Kingdom, South Africa, Norway, Germany, Brazil

Bottom: Russia, Jamaica, France, Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia.

So there was only one right answer for the challenge.

I too enjoyed seeing the first episode(s). They were a nice reminder of how the world was pre-COVID. I especially enjoyed the backstories of several of the teams—1) the educators who opened an after-school program for students/families, 2) the HS football coach who welcomed one of his players, who is now at West Point, into his family, and 3) the wrongfully convicted man who spent 10 years in prison. I am rooting for them all!

I really enjoyed that episode. For a little while, I could dream of traveling without obstacles posed by the pandemic.

[might be a spoiler]

I was laughing pretty hard at the two racers who totally overthought their task. Oops.

Yes! I completely neglected to mention the backstories! :blue_heart: :blue_heart: :blue_heart:

So glad to have AR back, although it was weird and sad time traveling back to pre-Covid life – all those people, no masks. Sigh. I really like almost all the teams so far, although I think more than usual some did not seem to do much prep work of studying how the race works and getting in shape. Any true fan should know not to overthink and to READ THE CLUE! I know the rest of the season will be different but hopefully still enjoyable.

Forgot to include the men who stopped the Paris train terrorist attack in the list of teams with great backstories.

I am also glad that there is only one reality TV “star” team and that they do not appear to be behaving like entitled divas as have some previous reality TV teams.

Liked the back stories. Crazy how in the first hour, one team doesn’t think about the challenge at all (the puzzle painting) and in the second hour, two teams overthink the letter challenge!

The start of the show was different - with folks getting a message about their first destination. I vaguely recall that they did this one other time - the season with all the internet celebrities?

TV Star team? Do you mean YouTubers? The “older” couple are YouTube/ Influencers.

Yeah, the backstories! Very interesting and I like many of them but I do also hope that we haven’t totally moved on from just normal people who love the show!

Really fun to be back in the mix of the show again. It’s funny how you can grow attached to a couple of teams almost immediately.

Also have to say the Indian Dad/daughter are growing on me. DETROIT!!!

There was a team from Love Island or something like that. No, I’ve never seen it either.

Caro & Ray from Love Island. No I don’t watch.

I meant the Love Island team. Couldn’t remember the name of the show as I also don’t watch.

Ah yeah, forgot about them/that.

Lulu and Lala (or whatever their names are) started to grate on me with their bickering/drama at the end of episode 2. Was disappointed non-elimination gave them a second life.

Caro’s season of Love Island was my summer guilty pleasure a couple of years ago. I actually hid from dh that I was watching it. When I saw her, I knew she looked familiar, but it took me awhile to figure out who she was.

The Holdernesses are the YouTubers. They are a little too polished much of the time for me, so I kind of liked when he overthought the mail challenge. Too cute by half gets old. Here’s a video of theirs if you don’t know them:
