I also missed the weight limit part. I really couldn’t figure out why she was doing it. And it looks like she’s doing the next one, too. Yikes.
What was Sheri’s D1 sport?
Basketball from what I found on my search. Both played basketball in college.
Another thing in the podcast was that the two returning teams had to do a speed bump that wasn’t shown. It sounded like it was more difficult to get from the speedbump to Phil and both teams got lost.
I haven’t listened to the 3rd episode podcast yet…that’s so odd that they had a speed bump that we didn’t ever know about!
Apparently they had to do something with giant cabbages in a corn field. They released the images to the press but didn’t air the footage. It looks like it was more remote which may be why they got lost.
Kim and Penn also said that there were limited supplies at the belt challenge so if you messed up and they ran out of supplies, you were out of luck. That may have been why so many teams chose the flag challenge.
I need to make time to look at AR YouTube channel for extra scenes!
I was wondering why the two returning teams seemed to be driving somewhere different than the other teams until the podcast explained that they had to do a speed bump task in a different location. It looked like a pretty drive, though.
I thought I heard Sheri say that Akbar was too tall for the mountain challenge, but maybe she said “too big” and I assumed tall. I’m guessing weight is why she is seen doing the rappelling one in the preview for next week. Poor woman!
Right because while I don’t know how TALL Akbar is, I think I’ve heard Penn is 6’6?? Don’t know that Akbar would be that much taller?!
Google says Akbar is 6’7" and Michael (Michael & Moe) is 6’5"
Any thoughts on last night’s episode? I find it interesting that the first team eliminated it both iterations were the policemen from Buffalo. And who was eliminated second in London? Father and daughter. Who COULD have been eliminated last night? Same team. Father and daughter keep getting lost, no matter where they are!
I fully expect Akbar and Cheri to go next----they just struggle so much it’s painful to watch. I wish Akbar showed more compassion—YES she was a D1 college athlete, but TWENTY years ago, has had children since, etc. He isn’t exactly the epitome of fitness himself!
Akbar needs to look in the mirror. He too was a D1 athlete but was over the weight limit for at least two challenges and does not look fit himself. Wondering why TAR does not have a weight limit for racers.
I was so flipping anxious watching the bungee jumping! I don’t exactly know how one’s legs aren’t ripped out of their sockets, how their hips and backs aren’t yanked and thrashed when being forcefully yanked back up and down. Then there’s the actual jump. I just honestly think I could never. For any reason. Ever.
I had to laugh at myself. I was yelling at the TV, when Sheri and Akbar read the clue to either make sausages or climb stairs, and they cheerfully said climb stairs…‘what? are you nuts? what about making sausages makes you think that would be harder than climbing stairs?’ She gets my vote for “least likely to who did!”
Cute as I think they are, I’m over the father/daughter team. And the sisters are growing on me.
The scenery of the episode was divine. The episode seemed to move quickly. I’m ready for more!
Read this cool piece yesterday - quite a few things I didn’t know about the show…The Amazing Race: The Wildest Rules Contestants Have to Follow.
- Teams are responsible for booking their own flights.
This has not been the case for many many seasons; production now books the flights.
This season aside, as they’re on charter, I thought they have always had to book their own flight(s) unless provided with specific flights they needed to catch. And they always had a Visa card just for the flights. I wasn’t aware that they were responsible for booking for their 2 person crew as well though.
Production has prebooked flights for at least 5 years. That’s why we never (or rarely) see airport drama in later seasons
DS1 bungeed in New Zealand. I didn’t think I could ever do it, but seeing Sheri doit made me think I could. I would close my eyes and make someone push me.
So proud of Sheri!!! If I survived the jump, the worst part for me would be the getting back up. I’d be screaming for them to pull me up.
Yes, I love Sheri!
I’m waiting for the moment when she gets fed up with Akbar and coldcocks him!! He would certainly deserve it.
