Amazing Race 2022

Fun episode, and wow the locations being these smaller villages is just so lovely!

I’m blown away by how well Penn & Kim are doing. They are a strong couple.
Love the other two girls - Cayla and ??
I could live without the one boy who feels the need to be so boisterous, when a challenge is met. That gets old real quick.
Ok father & daughter squeaked by.
I’m a bit sad the twins are out.

We found the twins whiney and obnoxious in the pre-COVID segments, but found them much more likeable when the race re-launched. Their musings about their grandmother while making sausage were so sweet.

I googled the twins after they lost and found out that LuLu and LaLa aren’t their real names LOL. They’re Marianela "Lulu " Gonzalez and Marissa "Lala " Gonzalez! Such pretty real names. I love souvlaki but felt bad for them, but also laughed at them, for thinking they had to eat another one. I’m liking the small outdoorsy locations and challenges this season. It’s different with less running around through cities but some beautiful scenery.

Who else finds Penn to be over-eager/over-enthusiastic and, hence, annoying? And his French isn’t very good!

That’s how I felt about him based on his videos. A little too extra for me. But he’s actually grown on me as the season has progressed.

He has ADHD and is obviously very open about it. He admits that his French is not great. He took it in HS and a little in college - over 25 years ago.

Plus foreign languages are a “use it or lose it” proposition. I imagine there is not much call to practice one’s French in Raleigh NC.

Penn’s over the top makes him and his family a very nice salary I think. It’s not only him but part of their influencer technique. I think he’s actually quite creative and animated.

Kim and her “neighbor” ) are my faves. There’s a AR reference here that’s fun. Snow Prep: South vs. Midwest - YouTube

Absolutely loving Kim and Penn - they are very, very open about their challenges. I’ve never actually seen a “personality” just so real about his disabilities. He had ADHD, she has anxiety - they clearly love and support each other. Hoping this 40+ couple goes all the way.

I started but haven’t finished Kim and Penn’s most recent podcast, but one of the things they talk about is how people are commenting that they don’t like them or that they’re too much. And Kim agreed that they are too much and she sees how they’re not for some people. Also Penn said he didn’t realize how loud and out there he was until he saw himself on the Race. They also had their kids on at the beginning and they sound just like Kim in their phrasing and intonation.

Their living/career is to be personalities. Like most people who get screen time with the public, some will love and some will hate! I don’t find them loud though!

(they may also do other things to make their income - they have referenced maybe other work - but not specifically that I am aware of)

Soooooo frustrating. To be the last one with only one coin left. Argh.

Natalia and Arun are getting on my last nerve. Well, Arun is. I’m ready for him to go.

I was glad it was non-elimination. That rock challenge was brutal.

I still can’t believe they are still in this race - they have the worst sense of direction.

IMHO it would have been very unfair for this to be an elimination leg because the challenge was pure luck. There was no way to be strategic or logical on the rock turning. To have the father/daugher stay in and the two guys go home on that would be brutal. Was glad to see Dusty be able to control his rage and be so open about it.

Pen and Kim are doing incredibly well. Although the routes have really favored the teams that are in the lead at the start of each leg.

As noted, the roadblock was largely luck. Starting the leg 30 minutes ahead can evaporate if the roadblock takes 3 hours to complete and the last team to start finishes it in 5 minutes.

Of course, as I said this leg was luck. The more recent previous legs did not seem to give the teams that started after the first group much change to move up due to the linear design.

Every season seems to have a needle-in-a-haystack type challenge. The rock hunt was it.

That’s exactly what Penn said on their podcast today
