<p>I think in my state most test-takers use the "A" date, but some schools do things differently. My son has been 10B state champion in two of the last four years. The award for state champion is a wooden plaque, which looks quite nice. He just took the 12A, and now he gets his last chance on the 10B before aging out of eligibility.</p>
<p>Has anyone mentioned that the AMC12 contains several of the same questions as the AMC10 given on the same date? You should be able to figure out the duplicates by following the forums at artofproblemsolving.com</p>
<p>This will give you the yardstick to measure your kids' abilities for next year. Unless you are talking about testing at an academy for the gifted, I doubt if you would have one child in five years that would aspire to the AMC12, and he or she could find a way to take it through the high school.</p>
