Amc

I am planning to participate in AMC (American Mathematics Competition) next week. Please share your experience if you took this test before. What score did you get? HOw difficult was it? What should I expect? Thank you for all your feedback!

it's not easy. you'll have a better time with the AMC10 if you're past geometry and into algebra II or beyond, and you'll have a better time with the AMC12 if you're past pre-calc. just be sure to read the questions carefully and don't make many guesses - there's a penalty for incorrect answers, but blanks are simply 0 points.

good luck!

i find it pretty difficult. i think last year, i got around 80 (if you guess 14 questions correctly without getting anything wrong, you can go on to AIME....but unfortunately, i only knew how to do 13 of them :-P so i knew i wouldnt make it to AIME unless i guessed some...so i did, and that lowered my score a lot :))

dont try to correlate your SAT math score with this test. i have an 800/800 (SAT I and II math tests), but i personally find this test very challenging. then again, i have friends that dont have those scores that made it to AIME.

my suggestion is to look at past AMC tests. they're pretty helpful
