Did anyone cath the premier of this 'toon on FOX after the superbowl? Its from the creators of Family Guy and its pretty hilarious.
"Osama is that you?" haha

I thought it was really funny... However am I the only one wo noticed just how much it was like Family Guy?

Yeah, it's by the same creator, so you'd expect it to be similar. But when Groening did Futurama, it was totally distinct from The Simpsons. I think Family guy is better than what I've seen of American Dad.

It seemed pretty boring to me. The only part that I thought was funny was when that Arab guy turned to his full robed wife and yelled, "For the sake of Allah, put some clothes on!"
I was cracking up.

Yeah I know that they're from the same person, I was actually expceting it to by similer to the Simpons/Futurama. They were completely different shows. I think somebody could watch American Dad and Family Guy back to back and very easily realize that they come from the same person...

Also remember, Family Guy was not an instant hit, it was (and still kinda is) canceled.

Family guy was an instant hit with me!!! hehe. It did have enough of a fan base to warrant bringing it back. Now they have celebrity voices and whatnot too.

Fox has tried other animated comedies before that have failed, so this wouldn't be unique. Anyone remember 'God, The Devil, and Bob'?

Family Guy is excellent but i've read several predictions about this show (esp in the Washington post) and most say it's gonna be a flop

i guess we'll wait and see

family guy's coming back, boo yah

american dad is sadly derivative

societal and political underpinnings in simpsons are a lot more subtle... with american dad, all the jokes are straightforward in-your-face, i think. i heard it was supposed to suck, but i found yesterday's episode okay, although it DOES look a lot like family guy

wow, it's sad when someone calls the political jokes in the simpsons more subtle than american dad...those jokes must be really, really, really obvious.

no offense.

haha some memorable quotes from American Dad:

"you know what i have to say to that? ................... i thought i was gonna fart"

"ok george i have to go now, cheneys on the other line" click "yes sir?" says god.

haha the whole ordeal with hillary duff was funny..and the mines.

I didn't check it out. Looks too much like Family Guy to me, and even though it's by the same people, it still feels like a ripoff. But it's big news already. People are talking about it from just a preview. I think that type of humor goes well with our age group.

I really didn't like it at all. I am a Family Guy addict and love the show, but American Dad was seemingly an exact rip off of Family Guy, just not as funny.

I didn't have a chance to watch it, as I was too depressed after the Eagles lost and stormed off to bed...

I thought American Dad was okay, but not great. The German fish lusting after the mother was funny for less than ten seconds. (It's weird that I find a megalomaniac baby funnier than a horny goldfish, but I digress.) The alien, in my opinion, was very funny. ("Don't ask me to do that E.T. healing thing, cuz that's a bunch of crap") However, the rest of the characters (besides Stan Smith, of course) were very bland. The mother seems to have no character traits whatsoever (except that teacher committing suicide thing, if that could be called a character trait). However, I do expect Seth McFarland to alter the show by the time it airs in May. Who knows? It may be better by then.
