Actually, IMO, Stanford might have the edge in terms of skills building by including one of those “doing history” courses as a requirement. It’s hard to know without sitting in on a seminar or two at each school. Chicago has a very open curriculum which can be an advantage for some, and if you cover methodology in the civ sequences then you might come into the major itself fairly well prepared.
