I went to Girls State last summer in Florida. You'll have a great time. You're day will be filled up and even the time you have for yourself you'll probably be campaigning depending on how active you are in Girls State.

I'm going, I guess. I'm not looking forward to it very much.

I'm going and know nothing about it!

I'm glad I'm not the only one, ctgirl ... I still barely know what's going on.

Should be interesting.

it is a great program. make sure to run for some office whether it is governor or psc. Just run for something and get the experience

I'm going to. What is the campaigning thing all about; I don't really understand it.

bring poster boards and markers to make campaign signs and you'll learn about the rest later.

To revive this thread,

How do you apply for Girls State? I looked at their websites and such but no where did it give instructions on how to apply. There was no application, etc.

Anybody know?

And also, what's Girls Nation? Are they the same thing? And how do you get "nominated" or "accepted"?

Thanks guys.

Hmmm...I was never in Girls Nation but I was a page this summer and met a couple girls who were. I know they got chosen from all the candidates at Girls State. They spent a week or so in Washington, met some really interesting people (apparently Girls Nation is a big deal!) and seemed to have a great time!

How do they choose who gets to go to Girls Nation from those at Girls State? Do you elect a person?

Are Girls State and Girls Nation over the same summer?

anyone have tips for the interview? what type of questions do they ask?

I went to Girls State.
I honestly thought I'd hate it.
I ended up loving the friends I made there, and I would go back in a heartbeat.
At the end of Girls State two girls are chosen to represent the particular state at Girls Nation in the following weeks. A ton of girls "run" for it and make speeches, and everyone votes on who will be chosen to represent at Girls Nation. It's quite difficult to be chosen.
If you have anymore ?'s feel free to PM me.
