to Ksarmand - I’m a NMF and I applied to AU. I haven’t designated as my first choice yet - I’m between two schools and waiting to see how much scholarship money i can get at each place. I emailed AU finaid last week and asked if I’m still eligible for National merit scholarship even though I haven’t chosen as first choice yet. She said

Dear Karissa,

Thank you for contacting our office. As long as AU is your first choice, then you are eligible for the National Merit Scholarship. You will need to contact the National Merit Scholarship committee to see if they have a deadline that you would like to meet.

If you have additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.

So I assume you can still get some scholarship money out of it. Hope that helped!!

BTW all I got the acceptance email today too. here are my stats:

SAT: 770 math, 780 writing, 680 reading
ACT: 34
GPA: 3.84 (i think :/)
RANK: 32/284 (guessing)

I didn’t take APs, but I go to my community college full-time for high school & college credit. I didn’t apply as a transfer student, it just means my classes were harder and I took more of them.

ECs: NHS, church youth group for 5 yrs, volunteering

I did EPGY at Stanford last summer, but I dont remember if I even said that on my application.

um…I think I applied as a psychology major, but I don’t remember. I applied like 3 days before the deadline.

Essay: I have no idea. I wrote about this time I got a really bad haircut and how I turned it into a good haircut and connected that to how things in life aren’t what you expect

I think that’s all that would be useful to anyone…

Good luck everyone!!
