@hopefulmom123 @Barksdale same deal with me I got the email but there’s no visible indication of any place where my admissions could be posted… The portal is pretty minimalist, so I’m not worrying about it. I assume it will appear later this week! Praying with you!
@hopefulmom123 There aren’t any students who work in admissions (there are some who work in the office, but none that would know your specific question. That is left up to the adcoms). As to whether they will accept a “record high” number of you (applicants) I would highly doubt it. The admissions rate will probably stay the same for this ED pool.
@frankt41 I would recommend starting the supplements for the other schools you are looking at, if you haven’t already. I made the mistake of waiting till after my ED decision came back (which was a deferral) and then I had to scramble to finish my other apps. Now that the decisions are only days away from being released, I guess it doesn’t matter as much, but still.
Make sure to relax between now and when decisions are released. I found a wacky correlation between stress and rejection letters…if you fear for it to happen, it is more likely to happen.
And, of course, good luck.
@AmherstClass2020 , you were deferred ED from Amherst and then later accepted during the RD round ?
@kodiakandrosita No, I was deferred at a different school, then later rejected. Amherst accepted me RD via Early Write.
@amherstclass2020 ‘The admissions rate will probably stay the same for this ED pool.’ how do you know this? (outside of conjecture that the rate won’t go up – or down ? ) just curious –
@chicorymom . Why would this year’s ED admits be any different than past years? They take their athletes and others they really want. Why would they change up their admissions formula?
i am not sure it would be @CottonTales – just wondering … in the past there have been bumps (some large and in different directions) in Ed rates at schools over time - or year to year – so , just a question – that is all – it was more a question as to whether this was conjecture or based on some solid knowledge that the rate this year is what it was last year –
@CottonTales i should clarify – i don’t think their formula is going to change – but the numbers very well might – there are anecdotal reports of an uptick (and for some schools a significant uptick) in the numbers of ED/EA applications - obviously i have no clue if this happened at Amherst.
Does anyone know when the financial packages are usually available? If my son is accepted on Friday :-SS
Okay, so I’m planning where I will be when I am able to open that admission decision this Friday. From as far as I can tell from last year’s ED thread, it looks like the decisions last year must have gotten posted around 4:30pm or so? Does that sound right?
@kodiakandrosita yup that’s what I’ve deduced from reading over past years threads! 4:30 eastern time! Hahaha I heard a parent reason that the admissions office closes at 4:30 so they release decisions right at closing time on a Friday so they don’t have to deal with a hundred phone calms
@californiatrailblazer, I was thinking the same thing about why the admissions office would wait until 4:30pm to release the decisions – LOL !
@collegecounts financial aid awards, assuming all your docs were in on time, should be with or right after your decision.
Less than 48 hours
so much stress in this house…it’s really awful what this whole process has come to for the student
This thread is so quiet compared to some other ED threads the day before decisions are released…
@kodiakandrosita maybe this means there are only like 10 people applying and they’re going to let us all in!!!
@californiatraiblazer, we think alike !!!
LOL!
Yeah, come on guys let’s get excited!!
