Congratulations to everyone who got in! <:-P You deserve it. It’s hard work getting to this spot. Feel free to message me with any specific questions you may have about life here at Amherst. To those who didn’t get in – do not fret. There are plenty of other colleges that will be happy to have you!
In!
Has anyone received financial aid packages yet?
Jeez Louise am I the only one who’s been deferred?
lollll i got rejected
Deferred. My question at this point is does getting deferred and not rejected mean I have a reasonable chance at other top schools?
I was rejected — I was expecting the rejection based off of my mediocre stats but it’s still slightly painful. I am, however, grateful for the slightly odd rejection letter that has a personalized and compassionate tone. Wish you all the best.
Is there a Facebook group for admitted students?
I got deferred. When do I start the process of writing a letter, sending in grades, etc.?
If you got deferred, it means that you likely have an application that is good, but possibly not strong enough for Amherst. For example, you might have great stats, but not so great extracurriculars. Or vice versa. I’d recommend, for Regular Decision, applying to only a couple other schools as competitive as Amherst (Midd, Bowdoin, SWAT, etc), and try to apply to some schools just a bit less competitive than Amherst (Colgate, Haverford, Vassar, etc). Since many deferred students end up getting rejected later on in Regular Decision, I’d recommend setting your sights a bit lower. That being said, admission committees are very idiosyncratic; maybe Amherst didn’t see the bright side of you, but possibly SWAT or Midd will see you as a very qualified candidate. It all depends, and to some extent, admissions decisions are sorta random.
Hey, just wondering what’s going on, because I still haven’t received any mail from Amherst, even though I applied through early decision. Btw I’m an international student. Any ideas what happened?
Have you checked online @janeahonen ? Usually decisions are released on the online portal, with an email telling you to check it.
I’ve just received an email with instructions to access my financial aid package, but I’m unable to log into the system. Anyone else having the same problem?
I’m also a current student at amherst, message me if you have any questions!
@dancingphysicist, yes, this past Monday. If you have not they are probably waiting for additional info from you.
Just got accepted to Engineering as an international student with chancellor’s choice award! 10k!
@outoflynchburg Um, wrong thread?
Wrong Amherst.
Hopefully he/she won’t show up at the wrong school in September!
Eh, at least will just be around the corner. The PVTA is efficient.
